Week 2 - Analysis of Professional News Reading

Analysis of the news reading sample by Kate Stowell for SBS World News Radio certainly showed patterns and purpose in the way in which she spoke.

For me it appeared that a pattern emerged in the way in which Kate spoke every second word. Her intonation varied slightly, preventing the news read from coming across bland and uninteresting. She also seemed like greater emphasis was placed on descriptive words as well as names of people, the government and government parties. So in some ways it seemed like the pattern was random but also it was obvious that her delivery was practiced, planned and professionally honed.

Her delivery differed greatly from my own which I recorded last week. Her voice had more depth and resonance. The intonation used and the pausing throughout also made Kate's new report seem more interesting and professional than my own.
